mRNA fragmentation in gram-neg. bacteria

Hi,
    I'm working with an mRNA of 1500 nts length and by doing
hybridization experiments I found two fragments (500 and 1000 nts) that
seem to stem from the long one. Interestingly, the fragments are almost
as stable as the original mRNA. Does anyone know this phenomenon of
stable mRNA fragments?
