John Parkes (as part of NSF's LExEn initiative) supposedly counted 11
million bacteria cells from a core sample collected over 3500 feet under
the ocean's crust (400 atmospheres and 169 C). This was reported by
several popular media sources, but I have been unable to find
confirmation in any scientific articles.
Does anyone here know the real scoop on this?
Thanks,
Hazel Fillmore
