Symposium on  Monascus culture and applications 8-10 July 1998

Second Announcement and Call for Papers
===============================

The theme of the symposium is Monascus microbiology, biochemistry, 
genetics and biotechnology in general and will consist of keynote 
presentations by internationally renowned scientists (as J. 
Fink-Gremmels, Y.K. Lee, A. Kujumdzieva, C. Webb,  Xu 
Ganrong................) and offered papers.  The symposium will cover 
food, cosmetics and toxicological aspects of Monascus.  The main 
symposium will consist of workshops and posters sessions.

The symposium will be held on the campus of the University of Toulouse in 
France. Toulouse is situated in the southwestern part of  France and is 
easily reached by rail (6 hours from Paris) and by road being adjacent to 
the A61 motorway.  For those arriving by air, the University is within 
1/2 hour’s drive from Toulouse international airport.

Call for Papers

Offers of papers are invited in any of the following subject areas :

- SSF, submerged fermentation
- genetics, protoplasts fusion
- production of pigments
- production of monacolin
- production of mycotoxins
- biochemistry, metabolism
- detoxification process
- foodstuffs applications
- contamination (food, silage, cereals)
- law regulations

Papers will be published in an abstract book and and will be 
peer-reviewed.  Abstracts of not more than 300 words should be submitted 
no later that 20 February 1998. Authors will be notified whether their 
paper has been accepted for presentation during March 1998. Manuscripts 
of papers accepted for oral presentation must be received no later than 1 
May 1998.
Offers for posters, indicating the title and author(s), should be 
submitted by 1 April 1998.
