Acetobacter xylinum mutation

Hi

I'm trying to produce cellulose in an agitated culture using acetobacter
xylinum subsp. sucrofermentans.  I read an article in Chemical
Technology and Biotechnology about mutating the original A. xylinum
strain by using tomato juice.  I was wondering if anyone knew how they
did this.  It wasn't too clear in the article.
