Thanks for the clarification. I haven't reviewed the literature since the
mid-80's when I was already in another field.
I have, of course, seen sequences of visna, BLV, HIV, etc, but had not seen
the type of comparison done to end this kind of politically motivated
speculation.
It is possible, I grant, that AIDS might have been spread in some places by
the use of unsterile needles at clinics. I understand EBOLA was spread by
such means in one major outbreak.
