Postdoctoral Position Available :Staphylococci

A postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular basis of
resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics and vancomycin in Staphylococci.
The laboratory of Gordon L. Archer is studying antimicrobial resistance
in staphylococci, particularly the regulation of beta-lactam resistance
expression and the genetic basis of the conversion from a low-level to
high-level resistance phenotype. Studies on the mechanism of
intermediate resistance to vancomycin are beginning. The laboratory is
located at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia
Commonwealth University in Richmond,VA. The applicant should have a
Ph.D. degree in Microbiology or Molecular Biology and should have
experience in bacterial genetics and the techniques of molecular
biology. The applicant should also be available for a personal
interview; all travel expenses will be reimbursed. The stipend is
