Faculty Position In Environmental Pathogenic Microbiology

The Department of Botany and Microbiology at the University of Oklahoma 
invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the 
general area of the physiology or genetics of environmentally important, new 
or reemerging pathogens. Applicants should take a molecular approach to 
potential areas of interest such as the introduction, transport and fate of 
pathogens in the environment, effect of altered environmental conditions on 
pathogens, or other microbiologically-oriented public health issues. Teaching 
at the undergraduate and graduate level is expected. Applicants must possess a 
doctorate degree in microbiology or related field. Postdoctoral experience 
required. The department has 20 faculty and cores of excellence in 
environmental biology in both botany and microbiology. Research and expertise 
which complements the department's strengths is preferable. Applicants should 
provide a curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, statement of 
teaching interests and three letters of recommendation by 8 January 1999 to 
ensure full consideration but the search will continue until a candidate is
