Tuberculosis

The official name of the organism is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, so you may want
to start a web search with that. This organism is of a type called "acid fast"
which describes the type of stain needed to stain it. The study of acid fast
organisms, or which M. tuberculosis is just one, is mycobacteriology. These
types of organisms need different media upon which to grow than "regular"
bacteria, so that may be something to look for. Robert Koch discovered the
organism in the late 1800's, so look up information on him (this was a huge
discovery, by the way). Hope this give you more of a start on your search.
