A one year postdoctoral position is available for a foreign scientist to
work on cell degenerative processes in the model system, the ascomycete
fungus Podospora anserina. Relevant information can be found in
- Silar P.et al.: Propagation of a novel cytoplasmic, infectious and
deleterious determinant is controlled by translational accuracy in

- Silar P. and Dabousi M.J. : Non-conventional infectious elements in
filamentous fungi. Trends Genet. (1999) 15: 141-145.
The work will involve the caracterization of genes and proteins
controlling the set up and the propagation of the"Crippled Growth"
degenerative process . Candidates with a molecular biology and
biochemistry background will therefore be welcome. Having worked
previously on filamentous fungi is not requested.
The lab is situated in a well known institute (Institut de Génétique et
Microbiologie) that posses all the necessary equipment and that is
located in the vicinity of Paris.
Due to official requirement, not all country are eligible (only people
from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Korea, USA, India, Israel, Japan,
Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland and Turkey may apply).The applicant
should be less than 35 and should not have a french PhD.
