I routinely did pellet cells and resuspend them in 0.1 NaOH for subsequent
Bradford assay. You certainly have to make your std curve with BSA or IgG in
0.1 NaOH. This method is good for bacteria that do not have cellular
inclusions like sulphur that would interfere with the assay (sulfur can be
extracted with ethanol).
