You don't need virus. You just need RF DNA available from a number or
commercial sources. Transform your host F' E.coli using normal protocols
etc. If you really want wt M13 (not say M13mp18 or whatever) then go to
the NCIMB or ATCC and buy it.
The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.
