Not "faith", silly. Certainly not in the sense of religious faith,
anyway. A respect for the evidence, and hypotheses and theories
erected on the basis of that evidence, rather.

We do. All the time. And in the depths of the very genome. O, ye
of little faith...sorry, not faith, was it? "O, ye of little belief
in overwhelming evidence...".
Get real. Get away from the disconnected musings of people long
dead, and with no experience of modern science, and set yourself
