conservation of intron-exon boundaries

I am sequencing a genomic clone of a jellyfish protein and I am finding the
almost identical exon-intron boundary locations as is found in mammals. On
the other hand, the same gene in Drosophila has only 40% similar exon-intron
boundaries as mammals. In terms of the coding region, both mammals and
Drosophila have a 70% similarity in sequence with jellyfish.
What does conservation of intron-exon boundaries mean? Does it mean that
the genes are regulated similarly?
