Founder-effect

Do you agree with my understanding of founder-effect being
the result of the geographic isolation of few members of a species.
The results are inbreeding, low genetic variability (same coin) and
fixation of rare and almost neutral alles. Few in this sentence means
that they are that few that genetic drift is stronger than selection.

Are there any clear definations of founder-effect in the
literature? In my textbooks it seems a very fuzzy concept.
