They are a privately held company with an evaluation around $100 mill. U.S.
(the evaluation is 3rd hand) located in Bothell, WA (206) 489-8000. The
scientific advisory board is (or was in '94) Eric Davidson - CIT, John
Essigman - MIT, Leroy Hood - UW, Gerald Joyce - UCSD, Lawrence Loeb - UW
and Julius Rebek - MIT. The board is (also as of '94) Paul Allen -
Asymetrix/Starwave/Interval Research/Portland Tail Blazers/Mirosoft,
Ronald Cape - Cetus(up to the merge with Chiron)/Neutrogena, Lloyd Cotsen
- Neutrogena/Sunrise Medical, David Galas(VP) - Human Genome Project, Bill
Gates - Microsoft, Mark Pearson (Pres./CEO) - DuPont Merck and George
Rathman - ICOS/Amgen/Abbott.
Based on 3rd hand information, Darwin Molecular is in the process of
buying patents on in vitro evolution/directed evolution and self
assembling systems.
