Monogametal Reproduction in Humans

A friend of mine told me he had heard of technology that has permitted
(caused) a single human female to become pregnant with a viable fetus
without the use of sperm to fertilize the ovum.

I have my doubts, but was curious enough to post this. I believe that
maybe this has been done in other animals, and maybe even mammals, but
not humans.

Any clarification would be more than welcome.
