Dear Lefteri,

Is your idea based on the "Cot effect" (Mathieu-Daude et al. 1996 NAR No
11)? If so, I regularily observe this effect doing AFLP in moths; however,
it (effect) becomes strong enough only for restricton fragment differences
which are well beyond the size differences found among msat alleles. One of
my microsattelite loci has alleles which differ in size so much that the
locus can be scored on 1% agarose gels [this is a complex repeat
((CA)nCT)i], but there is no significunt departure from Hardy-Weinberg.
Hope somebody else will provide you with information on larger sample of
loci.
