TWO POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE TO STUDY EVOLUTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF
THE VERTEBRATE LIMB:

Two postdoctoral positions, one funded by Yale University and one funded by
the Max Planck Society for up to two (and possibly three) years, will be
available starting June 1, 1999. The successful Yale funded applicant
will join a research group in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary
Biology, Yale Univ., New Haven, CT USA (P.I. Gunter Wagner). The
successful MPI funded applicant will initially receive training at Yale
Univ. and then will join a research group at the Max Planck Institute of
Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany (P.I. Chi-hua Chiu) by
February 1, 2000. The research will involve investigations into the
evolution of developmental regulation using in situ and transgenic
expression analyses. This research programme is part of an ongoing,
international collaboration. Both Yale and the MPI-EVA have state of the
art facilities for molecular and developmental biology and excellent
computational resources.

The successful candidates should hold or be near completion of the Ph.D. in
a relevant field (e.g. evolutionary genetics, developmental biology) by the
start date. The candidates should have demonstrated considerable research
experience in at least PCR, sequencing, and cloning. Additional experience
in the following areas are a plus: (1) in situ expression (2) analysis of
transgene expression (e.g. mouse, zebrafish), and/or (3) yeast
recombination methods.

Interested individuals should contact either P.I., preferably by e-mail.
