INSTITUTE OF ZOOLOGY

Research Fellowship in Conservation Genetics
GBP 22,038 to 23,991

The Institute of Zoology invites applications
for a Research Fellowship in Conservation
Genetics. We would like to appoint a highly
motivated scientist with the potential to develop
a vigorous research programme relevant to
conservation biology. A strong publication record
is required, as is the potential to obtain funding
from research councils and other grant-giving
bodies.

Candidates should be either (i) involved in
empirical quantitative genetic research on
factors affecting individual and population
fitness or (ii) using molecular genetic markers
to describe relationships among species,
populations or individuals in order to test
evolutionary and ecological theory. However, other
research areas will be considered.

The appointee will be a member of the academic
staff of the Institute (equivalent to a lecturer
position in a university department). Salary will
be in the range GBP 22,038 to 23,991 including
London weighting (pay award pending), depending
on relevant experience. The appointment will be
for three years initially.

Applicants should send a CV (including a one-page
outline of research interests and future direction),
a letter of application and the names and full
contact details of three referees to the Personnel
Department, Zoological Society of London, Regent=B9s
Park, London NW1 4RY, where further details and a
job description are also available
(tel. +44 (0)20 7449 6253 or e-mail personnel at zsl.org).
Informal enquiries to Dr Bill Jordan
(tel. +44 020 7449 6631 or e-mail bill.jordan at ioz.ac.uk).
