Purpose of this news group.

: many of these problems can not really be addressed, some can.  The present 
: discussion seems like a good opportunity for people to say what sorts of 
: things they would like to see discussed on bionet.mycology and what sorts of 
: things could help each of us keep up with the field.  

I expect that most of the professional postings would be in search of
information or technical assistance for some particular research purpose. 
i would hope to see some particular issues discussed, however, if they are
actually of ongoing concern to the pros.  Among these:  cladistics,
evolution, convergence (in, for instance toxins,pigments), insect and
mammalian spore dispersal, and methods of preparation for SEM. ah well-- i
can dream.
