Mycotoxins in lichens?

Lichens contain various "lichen acids" that are antagonistic towards
other organisms. I am unaware of any testing done on humans or animals
on the effects of smoking lichens. The effect of eating lichens would
be different than smoking, since combustion products would produce
different byproducts than would human digestion. I wouldn't try it if
I were you.
