antibodies from PAGE

Hi, has anybody out there used excised protein bands from PAGE gels
to raise antibodies for use in fungal diagnostics?

I was planning to try and find species-specific bands on gels and
use the recovered peoteins as immunogens for Mab production. Any
comments?
