The FGSC has several strains of N. crassa that would
be appropriate for the situation where contamination
poses a large threat.
We have aconidial strains eg FGSC #'s 3262 (acon-2) or
4317 (fl(or)).
Additionally, we have strains that are entirely lacking
in cell walls, eg "slime" FGSC # 1118.
This last strain grows as spheroplasts or plasmodia and
would be unlikely to contaminate anything.
More information about these strains can be found at the
FGSC web site: http://www.kumc.edu/research/fgsc/main.html
