nitrite assimilation

I have two questions regarding nitrite assimilation.
Is the expression of the nitrate reductase genes (nit-3, niaD) 
induced when NITRITE is the sole nitrogen source? Any published data 
available?
Is the permease responsible for nitrite uptake the same as that 
for nitrate?
