A search of the medical literature for Laetiporus sulphureus from 1966 to
1995 yielded only the following citation. Appleton RE, Jan JE, Kroeger PD
Laetiporus sulphureus causing visual hallucinations and ataxia in a child.
Department of Paediatrics, University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Can
Med Assoc J 1988 Jul 1;139(1):48-9 . I have enjoyed this polypore a number of
times without any ill or odd effects. However, one person who I know ate a
quantity and could not fall asleep due to a feeling of great energy. I don't
know if that qualifies as toxicity? Mike Ziegler
