In sci- archeology I posed the question-- could sus or su (latin for
hog) be the origin of the modern practice of hog-calling with soo-wee.
The thread recieved a great deal of attention, and the vast majority
feel it is quite possible and even probable. It was pointed out that
bos is latin for cow and the modern practice of calling cows bossy
comes from just that. By the way, you may be wondering what this has
to do with mushrooms? It's in reference to the genus Suillus
