Morels in Iowa

Seeing everyone anticipating the morel season got me thinking.  Has
anyone else correlated the arrival of morels with asparagus?  For the
last two years, I noticed that when my asparagus was ready for the first
cutting, my friends were finding their first morels.  Myself, I'm a
pathetic mushroom hunter, possibly because I'm color blind.  I'll stoop
so low as to eat what my friends find, though :)
