fungal microscopy

I have been interestested in fungi for about five years now and am just
getting into the microscopic aspects. I have been drying a number of
specimens to look at when I finally got a microscope. It is now on the way
and I realize that I have no idea on how to prepare the dried specimens
for study. Maybe place in warm water or between wet napkins as you would
to reconstitute them for cooking? I would appreciate any help as I am new
to microscopy.
