Russula amara is a frequently found mushroom here in the region of
Berlin/Germany. By its color and the very special form of its head, it is
easy to distinguish russula amara from other russulae. So it should be an
interesting object for each mushroom-collect in our forests. But in german
mycologic literature the evaluations of russula amara are very different:
Some authors qualify russula amara as "inedible", others as edible but of
mediocre quality. But in one book russula amara is qualified as edible
without any restriction.
Do you have experiences with this mushroom?
