In preparation for the Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Show at Eugene today,
yesterday day I went out looking for fresh hypogeous material for show &
tell. Found about a pint of Tuber gibbosum Harkn. in various stages of
maturity, with very few actually mature yet. Also found quantities of
Rhizopogon vinicolor and R. parksii, along with some button Amanitas and
other small mushrooms. A few Helvella lacunosa were found, but many had
already been parasitized by Clitocybe sclerotoidea or some look-alike. (By
the way, is there any other possibility for parasitized Helvella l. out
there?)
