The morels are fruiting abundantly in south central Iowa this year. My
neighbor picked six gallons M. deliciosa and M. esculenta on Sunday,
5/25. They are fruiting not only around dead elms, but in association
with silver maples and cottonwood (particularly dying ones).
I found the first M. deliciosa of the season on April 9, but the cool,
wet weather delayed plentiful fruiting until this week.
