Most likely Pseudocolus fusiformis (Fischer) Lloyd (= Pseudocolus
schellenbergiae, = Colus schellenbergiae) based on frequency in the northeast
U.S.
As has been suggested: This thing is loving whatever you are using for mulch...
hence: use something else.
