 I believe I know what you are talking about. Try adding 8-10 mlliliters
of 3% hydrogen peroxide to 1 liter of your agar solution AFTER
autoclaving. This retards the growth of contaminants and plates can be
used in unsterile areas, like schools. It allows mycelia to flourish,
however it kills (Mushroom) spores on contact. Use only for rhizomorphic
isolation of mycelia instead of introducing jars.
