Unlikely to be Aspergillus niger as suggested by previous poster.  You are
observing a dematiaceous fungus (or fungi)  of the type associated with
deterilration of stone and masonry.  Some of these grow very slowly and will
not be recovered in you studies.

The practicakl suggestions of the previous poster are likely to be effective.
