Fungi fd. 6/11/2000 under 23 year old Douglas fir plantation:
Tuber gibbosum var. gibbosum (Oregon Gray truffle)
Tuber sp. nov. (varies from other Tubers in having very wide venae
externae, reddish peridium)
Suillus brevipes
Martellia sp.
Endogone flammicorona
Peziza sps.
Hymenogaster sps.
Melanogaster (tuberiformis, variiegatus or natsii)
Of especial interest to tree farmers are the two Tuber sps above, which
are being sold at $300/lb on the internet. While T. gibbosum var.
gibbosum is rare or rarely collected, it has been cultivated at this
site and has produced an estimated 300 lbs./acre/year, while at the same
time increasing tree growth.
