While inoculating a new tree stand today with Tuber gibbosum var.
gibbosum and T. gibbosum var. autumnale (the site already has good
fruitings of Leucangium carthusiana), I observed the following fungi
fruiting under full-canopy Douglas-fir of about 25 years age:
Pseudohydnum gelatinosum
very old smokey-gilled fungi
Psilocybe sps. (coniferae?)
Clitocybe sps.
It is rather unusual in my experience to find Psilocybe under
full-canopy Douglas -fir. But I'd enjoy hearing from others. I rather
doubt this species was psychoactive, but would prefer to keep the site
unspecified at this time.
