Post-Doctoral Position (100% research). The Department of Biology at the
University of Alabama in Huntsville invites candidates to apply for a 3-year
research position studying the molecular biology of the secretome of a
filamentous fungus, Botrytis cinerea. This project combines a study of
protein secretions from this organism under a variety of conditions,
characterizing protein profiles, identifying and characterizing novel
proteins. This further characterization will involve cDNA amplification,
cloning, protein expression in a variety of formats and gene knock-outs to
elucidate biological function. The candidate needs to have expertise in
fungal molecular biology, plant pathology, biochemistry, disease resistance
biology. Bioinformatics experience will be an advantage, but not a strict
requirement. The appointee should show a self-driven initiative for
independent research and have an excellent publication record. Applicants
should submit a cover letter describing previous work experiences, a cv, a
list of publications, and the names of three references to Dr. M. R. Davis,
Department of Biological Sciences, University of Alabama in Huntsville,
Huntsville, AL 35899, Phone: 256-824-2799, Fax: 256-824-6305, E-mail:
