I can't help you with asexual culture. But it is easy to grow the
spores from sporocarps less than 1 year old, according to Nancy Smith
Weber. Nancy told me she had nearly 100% germination from dried morels
which had been kept away from sunlight.
I suspect the spores will last even longer dried than the 1 year period
currently known, but probably not as long as the fungus which was
cultured from spores in one of the Egyptian tombs.
Also, Morchella mycelium grows extremely fast, being able to cross a
Petri dish (3.5 inches diameter) in a day at 77 degrees. Complete
colonization within a week. So I don't understand your interest in the
culture alone, unless you are checking for bioremediation purposes.
