Neuronal interconnections in the visual cortex

Is there anything known about the fine grain of neuronal interconnections
between visual areas in the cortex,
concerning questions like
- Cortico-cortical connections: do neurons that are neighboured in one
  area project to neurons that are neighboured in another area?
- Analyses of interconnections at the level of individual cells.
