help! from another territory

Hi! everybody:
   I'm now a grad.student of special education in Taiwan normal univ.
   the other day, in a class ,one of our professor mention phenomenon
   about an enhanced sensivity aft a continuous & nonstostimulus on
   brain neu , aftea bunch of stimulus,the threshold will get lower
   ,then even if a tiny stimulus will arouse pulse, but what is the wright
   term to describe this(in english)?
