info regarding neural plasticity

The implications of neural plasticity suggest that the brain is not a
rigid, unadaptive network of neurons, but rather a flexible, adaptive one.
Can anyone tell me the most functional forms of plasticity thought to take
place in the brian that induce recovery from brain damage?
