Nausea and vestibular dysfunction

My brain chemistry and behaviour prof suggested that the purpose of an 
emitic-righting connection could serve as a potential warning for the 
animal that "there's something wrong here".  As he pointed out, what 
better method of getting the animal to sit up an pay attention?

However, I'd also be interested in hearing anyone else's 
comments/speculations.
