It would be necessary to be assessed by a neurologist or neurosurgeon 
who has an interest in trigeminal neuralgia.Depending on the cause of 
the disorder, there are different types of therapy.Some people who only have
intermittent bouts of pain can be well controlled with TEGRETOL.Others may have
be too sensitive to the drug or have side effects and consequently canot take 
it or may have to take other medication instead or in addition to it.(such
as DILANTIN,)

the other alternative is surgery----and this does mean or imply cutting the n
nerve.There are various procedures available and most are very effective
in providing relief to this painful condition
