The best current popular treatment of prefrontal damage is Damasio's
book "Descartes' Error." It reviews the literature well and makes a
good case for the importance of the ventromedial frontal lobe in
emotion. I also suggest a reveiw article I wrote several years ago
entitled "Prefrontal cortical control of the autonomic nervous system:
anatomical and physiological observations" in Progess in Brain Research,
vol 85:147166, 1990.
