Do people with complete spinal cord injury sometimes have withdrawal
reflexes below the level of the lesion that move the limb away from a
sharp nociceptive stimulus? If so, why don't protective reflexes move
the limb away from excessive heat? A former patient of mine was badly
burned by a radiator, and I don't understand why reflexive spinal cord
circuitry didn't move the limb at least briefly. Thanks - Laurie Lundy-Ekman
