Babinski reflex:
stroking the sole of the foot firmly should elicit a
reflex response - namely the toes curling ?Upwards?
[it's been a while since I learnt this]
The opposite is seen in v young babies, and in people
whose spinal cord has been compromised. Thus it's not a good
thing to have.
Therefore a bilateral Babinski refers to this occuring for
both feet. [It's actually quite hard to do IMHO - some people suggest
that any consultant worth his/her salt can get whatever response
they want anyway by applying pressure to the Achilles Tendon]
