ideas for measuring neuronal growth wanted

I am looking for new ways to measure neuronal growth by image analysis.  So
far I am using somal area, total neurite growth, number of primary neurites
and length of longest primary neurite.  Any other suggestions of variables
to measure or comments on measuring the aforementioned characteristics would
