Basal Ganglia Disorders

Take a look at work by DeLong out of Emory University, James C. Houk and 
C. Gerfen.  These individuals have contributed quite a bit to BG research.
In terms of new avenues of research, pallidotomy is current a hot topic
(surgery to relieve symptoms of Parkinsons)--- also look at recent work
on BG somatotopic organization and the role of BG in sensorimotor activity.
