there is a great variety of possible causes of PNP. Among them are:
deficiency of Vitamin B6, B12 and Folic acid
alcoholism/malnutrition
diabetes mellitus
immunologic diseases
paraneoplastic
vasculitis (e.g. Lupus)
Syphillis
AIDS/HIV infection
inflammatory diseases (polyneuritis)
toxic.
