The trochlear nerve is the only cranial nerve to decussate in the brain-
stem and emerge from its dorsal aspect.
I've found a few articles giving some embryological and evolutionary
explanations which are none too convincing. I would appreciate
any different thoughts or ideas or a different slant/approach to this
conundrum.
